Owner Of Funeral Home Admits To Unthinkable Act
Well this is something right out of a horror movie!! A funeral home owner in Colorado pleaded guilty to secretly dissecting corpses and selling body parts without the families permission.
According to court records, Megan Hess operated the Sunset Mesa funeral home and a human body parts business called Donor Services from the same building. She admitted in court to defrauding at least a dozen families who had paid for their family members to be cremated. But instead of cremating the bodies, she sold off heads, spines, arms and legs to third parties who said the body parts were for surgical training and other educational purposes.
Some families that were expecting their loved ones ashes, got a mix of different cadavers and once family received concrete mix instead. Prosecutors are seeking for a 12 to 15 years prison sentence, while her defense attorney is asking for a 2 year sentence.
It’s illegal to sell organs in the United States, but selling cadavers and body parts for medical research or education is not.
