Florida Man Steals From Disney World To Get A Job
A man pretending to be a Walt Disney World cast member, stole a “Star Wars” R2-D2 droid hoping to get a job at Disney World. Security from the Swan Reserve Hotel called 911 and when deputies arrived, they made contact with a man who identified himself as David Rodgers. He was wearing beige work pants, an orange work vest, a Disney name tag and said he worked in the receiving division of the Yacht Club Resort.
He then told deputies that part of his job is to move items from one location to the other. Security said they didn’t have any employee named “David Rodgers” working there. A deputy saw that he had a wallet and ask for ID. The man showed his ID, which revealed his real name as David Proudfoot.
Proudfoot finally admitted to moving the R2-D2 droid, not stealing it because he wanted to “show weaknesses in the security of the resorts in the hope of securing a better paying job at WDW.”
The man was arrested. [Source]
