How Elton John Helped Save Eminem From Near-Fatal Drug Addiction
Elton John is to thank for saving Eminem’s life after a near-fatal drug addiction almost killed him.
In a new biography by Anthony Bozza entitled, Not Afraid: The Evolution of Eminem, Bozza reveals that Eminem was hours from death after consuming the equivalent of four bags of heroin. John checked in with Eminem weekly and their relationship grew closer. Elton John has been sober for over 30 years and as an icon in the music business, he was the perfect person to mentor Eminem.
“Some days I would just lay in bed and take pills and cry… I needed pills in my body just to feel normal, so I would be sick. It was a vicious cycle,” Eminem admitted.
Eminem was taking up to 30 Vicodin pills a day and as well as up to 40 to 60 Valium pills a day. John helped Eminem get clean in 2008 and he has been sober for the past eleven years.
